A Distinct Identity
Lingan Golf Club was first established in 1895 at Victoria Park in Sydney. The golf club moved to a new site at Lingan Bay in 1909 and eventually found its current home in MacLean's Crossing in 1913. The original 9 hole layout was designed and constructed by Dominion, Nova Scotia native and Maritime Amateur Golf Champion Malcolm Martin. In 1922, the famed golf course architect Stanley Thompson came to the area and redesigned the original 9 hole layout. The development of the second nine holes began in 1964 with C.E. (Robbie) Robinson as the architect.
Lingan Golf Club is one of the oldest golf clubs in existence in Canada with a strong history and tradition. The golf club has hosted Canadian and Provincial golf championships with the most recent being the Nova Scotia Men's Amateur Championship in 2008. We also host one of the biggest and storied annual men's invitational championships, the Cape Breton Roadbuilders presented by Caper Auto Sales. This event was established in 1968 and has seen some of the top amateur golfers from the Maritimes participate.
The club maintains a sizable membership and also offers green fees options to the public. There is a practice range, putting and chipping greens and a full service pro shop on site. Club and power cart rentals are available for those who require them, although Lingan is a very walkable course and typically plays in under four hours. Jamie MacIntosh and his professional staff offer a wide variety of lessons and group clinics.
Flavor 19 is a contemporary restaurant and lounge located at the Lingan Golf Club. Open year round to the general public, the menu will tempt your taste buds while premium cocktails and mini desserts make your meal complete. Enjoy the luxury of the private dining room or take in some of the best East Coast Musicians in the main room. THREE CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF COURSES TO CHOOSE
Lingan has the distinction of offering its members the option to play at three different championship courses. Since this unique partnership began in 2009 and was updated in 2015, Lingan members have had the best of what golf has to offer. Each individual member at Lingan may decide for themselves if they would like the option to play at Bell Bay Golf Club or Seaview Golf and Country Club this season.
All returning members now have the option to add one of these championship courses to their current membership or decide to just play Lingan.

Three very walk-able courses. We are proud at Lingan to boast of its easy walk for golfers of all ages and physical abilities. In fact, you'll find no easier course to walk.
Three fleets of power carts. If you prefer to enjoy a power cart rather than a walk, all clubs offer them for rent.
Three of the best practice facilities on the Island, each with a driving range, putting and chipping greens, and practice sand traps.
ADDED BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP
In addition to the choice of where to play, there are other benefits to having a Lingan membership:
a 25 % discount on clothing purchased from the Professional Shop; discounted pricing on range balls, power cart rentals, and tournament entry fees;
a 15% discount of food purchases at Flavor 19, located inside the clubhouse, and at Flavor's downtown location;
a Family Membership Plan, whereby a member may sign up his/her child for an additional $60 plus HST per child; and
a Member/Guest Program, which allows a member the opportunity to take up to three guests for complimentary golf on Saturday and Sunday evenings to offer them an introduction to the game of golf.
When you are deciding whether a golf membership is right for you, we suggest you consider all of the above when making your decision. Other things that might help you decide are Lingan's close proximity to most of the communities within the CBRM. Lingan's facilities are excellent - from the course, its practice facilities, professional shop, and now in its newly designed clubhouse. We know you will be pleased with our experienced and courteous staff throughout the entire operation. There are no compulsory food and beverage purchases required and because you can easily walk the course, don't expect the extra cost of renting a power cart.
